Science Fiction and COnventions
I have been hanging around Science Fiction fandom since 1982. I first attended Conquest back then when we were the first ones to have a convention in the then new Sheraton Hotel in Brisbane. In 1988 I arrived in South Australia and have been travelling interstate for conventions ever since. After a hiatus of non-attending, I bussed it to Canberra (I don't recommend the 17 + hour trip) where I met many of the well known names in fandom. You may have seen me, my costumes or my artwork over the years.

In 1994 I started my fanzine - Awaken -(now in hiatus) I went on sabbatical from the world, for 2 years, folowing a personal 'hiccup', and returned to attend Multiverse2, in Melbourne, where I again caught up with many friends who I have missed for way too long. Thankyou to all of those who have helped me get back on track personally and in fandom.

MultIverse 3 Melbourne 1997

Multiverse 2 was my first convention for 2 years and David's first science fiction convention. Guest of Honours were : Claudia Christian (Babylon5) ("We're was Bitter!!"), Robert Llewellyn (Red Dward). We had a great time and got back in touch with some friends I haven't seen in a while. Every one's name tag was 'Kosh'. The set included a fantastic Original Trek icon (Far right)
David got to meet Robert Llewellyn (Red Dwarf)- he was wrapt.

World con - Aussie con 3

Aussie Con 3 was held in Melbourne and my first World Convention (it was part of our honeymoon!). We entered the costume parade and managed to get 'Best performance'. Had a great time. Met new and old friends
costume con 20
This is an annual convention held by costumers, usually held in the United States. This was help in Melbourne and run by the local chapter of the Australian Costumer's Guild. Classes were held, including corset making and millinry. The cosutme parade had both historical and fantasy sections. This was Morgan's first convention and she enjoyed it immensley!
costumers GUild Ball
This ball is held each year by the Australian Costumer's Guild. This was the first year it was held in Adelaide.
I managed to win my first Costumer's Guild Award - for construction Master Level, based on my Maria d' Medici outfit. This award is based on the construction and documentation of an outfit.

It will be held again next August... so look for it!

( Details can be found on the Shuttle Mawson 's Club News page of http://www.shuttlemawson.com ) I made a leather outfit based on the Firefly series and Serenity movie. (The only problem was that it was also the weekend of the Adelaide Christmas Pagaent!!) Guests were Tony Amendola (Master Bra'tak- SG1) and Rachel Luttrell (Teyla- SG Atlantis) There was a contingent of Australian Costumer's Guild members there too.

This ball was held at the Burnside Town hall again this year. Though attendance was down due to regulars being overseas and the spate of flu this year, the costumes were great.
